Girl Scout Promise Video

*Turn off the Daisy Radio first before watching this video so you can hear it.

This is too cute! Here is a video of the girls earning their Promise Center badge, by joining hands in a circle and saying the Girl Scout Law. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they knew it (or most of it) without any help at all. Very proud of them, as they are excited and eager to earn their badges.

Butterflies and Badges!

The girls started working on earning badges on Wednesday and guess what? They earned two! Yes, the girls earned their very first badges. The Lupe petal,as well as the Promise Center. Which means now would be a good time to purchase the Daisy Girl scout petal set for $6.95 http://shop.girlscoutsaz.org/store/product/988/Daisy-Girl-Scout-Petal-Set/
They received the promise center badge by joining hands in a circle and saying the girl scout promise. Then we learned about Lupe, the Lupine flower who taught us about fairness & honesty. The girls had to listen to the short story, re-enact the story in a small group, and play a game as a whole group, which we had to learn the rules to and be honest & fair about how the game was played. The girls played a game of Duck, Duck, Goose as you can see below.

The girls made beautiful butterflies and decorated them with fluffy colored pom poms, googly eyes, antennae, and a sprinkle of fairy dust (glitter). Then we glued a copy of the girl scout promise on the back so they could have it at home to practice with.

We CAN!

This weeks meeting had to be moved into the Multipurpose room due to parent/teacher conferences. Here is a great photo of all the girls after snack time.
L to R: Isabelle, Aimee, Kinsey, Kylie, Dakoda, Kaley, & Lela Mae (Lexi-absent)

We read the book "I Can" and then we went around the room and talked about all the things each of the girls told us they CAN do. Afterwards they drew pictures of them doing the things they CAN do. Being a girl scout teaches the girls that they CAN do anything they put their minds to!

We also worked on a special craft donated by Lela Mae's aunt Trish, which you will get to see soon. Hint: It involves one of those frames you see in the photo.

DAISIES: Don't forget to wear your daisy shirts and vests each Wednesday!

Our First Troop Meeting

Today was our first Troop Meeting. The girls had fun and we could tell they were very excited to get started. We enjoyed snack first (NutriGrain bars & juice). Then we talked about what the Girl Scouts is all about: Responsibility, Honesty, Fairness, Teamwork & Friendship! The girls learned the Girl Scout Promise and were very cute about standing up, being serious and holding up their three fingers to do so. Once they learn the Girl Scout Promise on their own, we will have a Daisy pin ceremony and invite all the parents/grandparents to come & celebrate! Help your Daisy to learn it too:

On my honor, I will try:

To serve God and my country,

To help people at all times,

And to live by the Girl Scout Law

We also spent most of our meeting making "sit upons". These will be used to sit upon during our meetings and provide a bit of cushioning while sitting on the floor. We used a vinyl tablecloth, some newspapers (thank you Elyse for your donation), and some multicolored yarn. We didn't quite finish these so our co-leader Sharon took them home to have them ready for our meeting next week. Here are some photos of our day!
